Velma

Why?

OK its finally time to talk about that show. It´s no secret that the show wasn't well received and it probably also wont surprise you that I´m not a fan either. So why talk more about it? Well I think its worth talking about bad media, regardless of what kind of media it is, just to learn from it. Learn from your mistake basically and with how many mistakes this show made you can learn a lot.

Let me get a few point before I dive deeper into little segments. Something people said about this show and about other modern media is that it is too woke. I usually hate this description cause it feels highly subjective and doesn't tell me anything about the show really. However , even tho I hate this description I kinda have to say that it really fit Velma or rather that its too woke for its own good. Its also way to meta for its own good which destroys a lot of the comedy but more on that later. For now lets dive into this train wreck and see if there are maybe things that weren't bad or that could be salvaged if a season 2 will air.

Plot(spoilers but who cares for this show. It might be better to just see spoilers so you don’t have to go through the same shit)

This show starts as an origin story for the Mystery Inc. It starts with Velma beginning to explain how she founded the group and the we pan to the first mystery. In the shower we see the popular girls talking in the shower before Daphne was attacked by a masked stranger. That stranger turned out to be Velma who attacked her because they currently hate each other. Soon that was interrupted when the body of another popular girl was found dead , her brain removed from the corpse. This starts the mystery and the search for culprits. Velma's starts to think it might have something to do with her mother that went missing about 2 years ago and tires to investigate with her best friend Norville, who also happens to be in love with her and rather clingy. Her investigation gets interrupted by hallucinations that scare her and almost kill her if they are not stopped. The cause of the hallucinations is the guilt she felt for causing her mom to disappear. The first clue leads them to Fred Jones the simple minded and sheltered heir of a mans fashion company. He gets wrongfully evicted and blamed for the murders since now a second body appeared. Yet after his wrongful conviction a third girl died and he was set free. In the meantime Velma continues to investigate and reconnects with Daphne , becoming friends and Love interests again as Daphne shares some of her secrets. Daphne who is adopted by 2 female cops , tries to earn money to find her real parents by selling drugs at school . Meanwhile Fred after being released from prison read a book about feminism and concludes that Velma is the perfect Woman and tries to win her affection . The Kids find more clues , almost all of them through coincidence and not real detective work but get an idea of what happened. A scientist researched how to remove brains and put them in a different Body and an Army general that was versed in Hypnosis tried to use that for the military giving it the code name S.C.O.O.B:I. . Meanwhile Daphne finds her parents, finds out that they are criminals and abandoned her , twice. Also at some Point Norville gets girlfriend called Gigi but it seems she left him later since he wasn't over Velma. Later the group finds the brains of the Dead girls , only they are not dead. They are still sentient and in Jars. At the same time Velma's Mom reappears , trying to recall what happens but she cant. It turns out she cant remember because she was Hypnotized. Shortly after Velma sees a Wielding Mask in the bag of Norvilles father and accuses him of being the killer, since the only clue we have about the killer is that they are wearing a wielding mask. This was wrong tho and Norvilles father is not the Killer which led to Norville kicking Velma out of his life for now. At the same time Fred's Mother tries to groom Daphne into someone that could work in Fred´s Family business. The story Climaxes with Fred and Daphne being Kidnapped by the killer. Velma figures out where The Killer is hidden and saves the two. The killer is revealed to be Fred´s mother. Her father was the Army general that led Project S.C.O.O.B.I. . She wanted to use the brain transfer to turn her disappointing son into an heir that could lead the company she would leave to the world. The other girls were kidnapped for the same reason. She wanted to put the brain of a popular girl into Fred´s body , since a popular girl would have the knowledge of how to run a male fashion company and would knew how to use the privilege of being a white man in the business world. Fred´s mother manages to apprehend the 3 kids again and now wants to put Velma´s brain in Fred´s body since she has such a brilliant mind.,Velma manages to escape again and Fred starts chasing his mother with a gun. Fred´s mom however gets the gun form him,, tricking her Son into thinking that she was possessed by a ghost. AS she was about to kill Velma Norville arrives. Deflecting the bullet with his sword and accidentally killing Fred´s Mom. Why has Norville returned? Because earlier Velma left him a Voicemail saying she missed him and that she loved him. She also kissed Daphne , Her saying she loves Velma to which Velma said that she loves Norville.

After Fred´s mother died everyone in the group of kids seem to dislike each other for different reason and the City celebrated them as heroes. It ends with a Policemen being attacked at night while putting the files of this case away, Fred starting a spooky investigation agency, Norville being traumatized being suggested to smoke weed and Daphne receiving a letter with a pentagram on it.

Bad Writing

Usually I would now start talking about the Characters but I really want to criticize some plot points first. Mostly the Killer and the motivation. The Twist of Fred´s mother being the Villain cam out of nowhere , because before the last 2 episodes she had maybe 3minutes of screen time. Only giving her Focus just before she is revealed to be the Killer is simply bad writing. Especially if you first create an obvious red haring with Norvilles father. Another thing that really bugged me was the idea of putting the brain of a popular girl in her son´s brain. First it showed that she cared more for the company than for her Son which is messed up in a different way. But also , wouldn't it make more sense to get the brain of a qualified person instead? Like maybe someone who has a business degree, or someone who has any kind of experience with leading a business? Also saying that a Popular girl would have the fashion knowledge for the job is kinda reinforcing a harmful stereotype. So its trying to be feministic while leaning on a harmful stereotype regarding women???? Sorry but that's just stupid writing once again. Another thing about this whole motivation is Fred being unfit to lead the Company. It was shown in the first few episodes that Fred has been sheltered or rather spoiled to an extreme degree. He doesn’t even know how to cut his own food. So why did you raise him like that if you wanted him to be able to lead the company some day ? This could have been prevented if she didn’t spoil him like that. Also Fred´s mother is a skilled hypnotized and used that to cover up her tracks, which BTW is too convenient of an excuse for no evidence of her evil doing, but could she not have just hypnotized her son ? Could she not have hypnotized him in a way to change his behavior or something ? Its these inconsistencies that really annoy me with the Villain. It´s not satisfying at all since the motivation doesn’t make sense and her way of achieving the goal seems like the most complicated way possible.

Speaking of inconsistencies. The show struggles with differentiating between whats serious and whats just there for humor. So you sometimes see characters do things that should have consequences but they don’t. The best example is in the second episode. Fred blocks an object that someone threw at Velma and throws it behind him. The object was a paper cutter and cut of someones leg. Did he face any consequences for that or was it even ever mentioned after ? No. He was in trial for since they thought he killed the girls later in the same episode. This could have been used as evidence against him but no. Why should we care about girls who get their brains removed when the show duns´t care about the casual amputation of legs ? It just doesn’t fit together.

Another thing I would like to mention is the obvious red herring at the end. When Velma believes that Norville´s dad is the Killer. There were no clues whatsoever that he had anything to do with the murders. The only person that would have been the logical suspect was Velma´s missing mother , yet Velma, a character who is supposedly so smart just assumes the worst immediately and calls the polices on the innocent man . It felt like it was just put there to create some tension between Velma and Norville for the last episode.

One last inconsistencies I would like to point out is that the People in Velma´s town immediately start thinking that the killer is a joke. Velma constantly say that everyone who would think that is dumb since there is no evidence for Ghosts or paranormal stuff being real. But in episode 7 they introduce a fog that appears once a year in their town. This Fog is apparently magic since it can randomly swap the positions of objects , swapping clothing or a knife for a sausage. There is never any explanation for this , it just exists. So if the people in her town and herself accept this magic fog then it seems rather likely that most people there believe in ghosts and a ghost killer as well.

Usually I don’t point out such inconsistencies do such a degree , but here I felt the need to point it out since they appear so often and to such a degree that it actively makes the show worse. Especially The inconsistencies regarding the Killer felt like the Writers started writing without actually thinking ahead who the Killer is and had to just scramble it together in the end. Especially in a mystery show this is just frustrating since part of the appeal is that you want to guess who the culprit is. You want to notice small clues and details so that you feel rewarded for noticing them in the end, but here this simply isn't possible.

Lets come to another part of the bad writing, the humor. Most jokes are either self aware meta jokes and attempts at social commentary. The latter felt offensive in one way or another most of the time.

Let me give you an example for the self aware meta jokes. One of the first scene is the Popular girls in the shower pointing out that pilot episodes often show more violence and skin and they discuss if its a good or bad thing. Of course the girls are only covered by bubbles or a towel so the show does exactly what the characters are talking about. This happens a lot and at least in my opinions its not funny. Also one thing I fell I should mention here. In that seen they clearly try show more skin of the showering girls since pilots are supposed to be sexy, yet most of the cast and at least Daphne is 15 in the show. Something about constantly sexualising these Teenagers doesn’t quite feel right, and that comes from someone who has watched a lot of anime. Another form of meta Humor is indirectly praising a character or the show itself , like pointing out that this is a thoughtful conservative comedy . To me those kind of jokes just feel like the writers were trying to pat themselves on their back , congratulating themselves for writing something they apparently thought was good.

The other comedy that's very common is social commentary that often fells offensive. Ill dive in deeper into that later but I just want to give a bit of an example. The show tried to joke about men having it easier in life in episode 7 but does that in such an over exaggerated way that it feels counter productive. Or often they just point out a stereotype of a certain ethnicity or social group , try to comment on it in a joke but it just sounds like the group of people is being made fun off. A good example is Velma pointing out at one Point that Daphne´s adoptive mothers are bad cops , even tho that is the only good stereotype regarding lesbians. That to me sounds more like they a jab at the lesbian community than being funny.

OK that's enough about the writing here now lets dive deeper into some of the Characters.

Velma

Well I can make it short. Velma in the show is objectively a horrible human being. If you want to know why then buckle up this might take a while. During the show we see that Velma is the cast out at highschool. She doesn’t have a lot of friends besides Norville and is a target for Ridicule. She does have a somewhat tragic background with her mother dissappearing and her best friend Daphne isolating herself from her at the same time, I will give her that. But whenever we see a glimpse of her personality its just awe full. She is egoistic , proving it more than once by not caring for anyone but herself, even going as far as completely ignoring Daphne who she just started romancing with. She is and abusive friend towards Norville, constantly dragging him into her problems and causing him trouble in his own personal life. She showed more than once how judgmental she is , jumping to conclusions after seeing a person for the first time and calling them names. She is unwilling to admit any wrongdoing on her end( this is even said by her in one episode). She lacks any empathy , not caring for anyone else´s feelings or being able to even acknowledge the feelings of other people. She is shown to be jealous to an unhealthy degree when it came to Daphne. She is actually eating fries from a trashcan in one episode. She stumbles through sheer coincidence into the clues to solve the mystery, doing very little actual detective work , yet still believing she is a genius and better than everyone else. I simply cannot fathom how you make your protagonist and namesake of the show this unlikable. Maybe they tried to go for a Rick from Rick and Morty , who is also an egoistic asshole , but he shows emotions and that he cares for his family multiple times. Here Velma is simple unlikable. This alone creates so much problems for the show itself. Mindy Kailing at some point saying that she hopes that Velma can be an Idol for girls but this is not an idol. This is the kind of character you should aspire to never become. Which leads to another thing that feels unbelievable , at least to me. During the Runtime of the show all 3 of the other main characters seemingly fall in love with Velma and are trying to get with her. Seeing this completely horrible human being creating 3 love interest that like her for her personality just feels like bogus. Especially Fred thinking she is the perfect girl after he read one book about feminism feels completely dumb. Yeah I can see Daphne liking her because of them being childhood friends and Norville probably having Stockholm syndrome . But Fred thinks that he sees every feministic ideal in Velma, even tho in the same Episode she was slut shaming other girls. Fred only cared about her inner beauty , but this inner beauty is simple non existing. This led me down another thought which is something I really don’t like to accuse shows often as well. But in this case it just fells to obvious. Mindy Kalling , the executive Producer of the Show and Voice Actor of Velma fells like a self insert. Velma in this adaptation is a Indian American. Changing the ethnicity of a character is fine, just changing it to fit resemble the executive producer feels a bit weird. Then the point of all other character loving Velma kinda felt like living out a weird fantasy through this show. I really don’t like to make such accusations usually , but in this case it kinda felt too obvious as that I could not mention it.

Regarding Mindy there is one last point I should mention and that is that her Voice acting as Velma felt lackluster. It often lacked the convincing emotions and wasn't as immersive as the other main cast.

TLDR: Velma is written as a horrible Human being and if the writers didn’t notice that then something went seriously wrong.

Daphne

I will give the show credit were credit is due. They attempted to give Daphne some depth. Daphne in this show is the adopted Daughter of two lesbian police officers. She is a popular girl that used to be best friends with Velma but dumped her to become popular. At the start of the Show it is revealed that Daphne is trying to find out who her real Parents are and is selling drugs to earn Money for a private investigator. So far so good. This in theory differentiates her from the usual girly damsel in distress cliche. But the execution was lacking in my opinion. Her being a drug dealer was relevant for 1 episode and that's it. This could have easily been used to create drama between her and her adoptive parents but it was just dropped and never mentioned again. Then once she finds her biological parents they turn out to be criminals who abandoned her to escape the police. Daphne of course things her adoptive parents are too blame but soon her biological parents abandoned her again in the same way. This Story arc really had potential , it just felt unpolished. The reveal of who her parents are came a bit too fast, probably to make room for the main plot and more of what the writers think is comedy. This Truly had potential but it just wasn't executed well enough. If there will be a second season then I hope they kinda built on this further. Apart from that the only notable thing for Daphne is her relationship with Velma. It starts of with them becoming friends again and slowly developing into more. The problem with that is that this relationship doesn`t seem to healthy since Velma is ignoring her for quite a bit and treating her not very nice. In the end of the Season Daphne gets her own personal life again by becoming a business protegee for Fred´s mom , but that was only to give us the only in the 9th episode out of 10 and was more so we get a hint that Fred´s mom could be the villain.

One more thing that I thought I should point out was something that rubbed me the wrong way . I mentioned earlier that I didn’t like it that they sexualised 15 year old girls in the first episode. Well in the same episode Daphne speaks about her time dating Fred. She remarks that she has been trying to sleep with him for over a year now while they were dating and that part of the reason why she isn't with him anymore is exactly that. Well hearing a 15 year old girl talking about her boyfriend not having sex with her for a year and dumping him cause of that just feels kinda messed up. Yes that happens but I still don’t think we should sexualise these characters to that degree. The way Daphne talked about it almost sounded like she was harassing him in that way. That might just be me reading more into it but the critic of not talking about the sex life of 14 to 15 year old's should still be clear.

Fred

I don’t know if its a controversial opinion but Fred was probably my favorite character in this show. Fred is a rich heir to a male fashion Company. He starts off as egoistic, snobbish, rude and spoiled. Over the course of the show he starts shifting his values to go from someone that was the typical superficial rich boy to be a feminist and caring about brains and inner beauty. One thing that stayed tho was him being an idiot. He is often used for comedic relief and the jokes often revolve about him being just plain dumb. What also is often a theme of the comedy is him being a rich white boy, showing him as dumb and incompetent as a form of social commentary. I will talk more about it later but I didn’t mind it to much for him. The joke was always to me that he is just an idiot that doesn´t know any better usually.

So why is my opinion controversial? Well ti me it looked like most of the flaws Fred has aren't his fault. Yes he is a spoiled rich boy who valued superficial things more than others, but we see how his parents treat him and how little effort they put into raising him. So with parents that only cared about what image he gives out for most of his life makes it sound very plausible for him to turn out like that. His family gave him what he needed , spoiling him to the point of not knowing how to cut his food, yet demanding for him to have a good looking girl by his side to create a good image. Of course he turns out only caring for looks and with nothing in his head. It makes perfect sense. So if the writers tried to create him as the stand-in for white rich man then sorry but it didn’t feel that way to me. To me he was just a boy that didn’t know any better because his parents simply didn’t put effort into raising him.

Another part of why I enjoyed Fred is simply that he is an idiot and comedic relief. To me he didn’t feel like he was Fred when you compare it to other Scoop-Doo versions. He felt more like Shaggy, the comedic relief goofball of the group.

When the season ended Fred had the most intriguing send off. He stepped into the Van he bought earlier which now said spooky stuff investigator and distanced himself from his Father. He still believed his mother was possessed by a ghost and tries to be a paranormal investigator. To me that just showed that he had the most character growth of them all and of all the season 2 setup this is the only one that has me exciting.

Norville

OK so I don’t know what went wrong here. Norvilles character for the most part is dictated by being in love with Velma to a concerning point. He still has a love for snacks like shaggy would usually have but most of his screen time is about him being overly attached to Velma and Gigi for a few episodes kinda. What do I mean with overly attached. Well in one episode Velma needs money. Norville want to help her out, Nothing wrong with that , its a common plot line, However what Norville says about it is summing it up rather well. He says that in shows the person lending the money is using guilt to force the other person to fall in love with them. He then notes that its morally wrong to do that but very effective so he doesn’t care , going as far as to sell one of his kidneys to blackmail Velma into loving him. A sane person would not do that. Paired with the hundreds of messages he leaves Velma constantly creates that a profile some would probably describe as a stalker. Like this behavior just isn't healthy. In another episode he finds out that Velma and Daphne are starting to have romantic feelings for each other and he tries to find out why Velma likes Daphne so he can change his personality accordingly. That´s just messed up and it ruined the character for me. What makes it even worse is that Velma constantly treats him like shit. She ignores him when she doesn't need him for anything. She demands so much from him without ever giving anything back. I don’t understand how he could be so infatuated with her.

The other interests he has are swords, the school newspaper and being against Drugs. It was often used as a joke that Norville knows a lot about drugs but is strongly advocating against them. This of course stems from Shaggy in other iterations often having characteristics of a stoner, always having the munchies, baggy clothing , either relaxed or panicked. It was a running gag that was even build upon in another Scooby-Doo TV movie where they were put on trial but found innocent. Here its them trying to built on his typical character in a roundabout way. The season ends with Norville being traumatized and his Father who is the school psychiatrist recommending him marijuana . I don’t really like the way since it will probably just be used as an excuse to rewrite his personality in a potential second season. I don’t have any experience with trauma but is also doubt to just numb your trauma with drugs is a good way to deal with the situation.

Overall Norville just feels wrong. His character shows some very toxic behavior and apart from him loving Velma he just felt empty. If you take him liking Velma then is Character has like 10 min of dialogue maybe in the 10 episodes. That just speaks for how one sided of a character he turned out.

Social Commentary

In some of the former segments I talked about a lot of the writing being focused on social commentary and it failing often in my eyes. What I mean by that is the show is often trying to make a point with a plot line or a joke but it wont work based on one of 3 reason usually.

Reason1: They do it in a super shallow and superficial way. I told earlier how a lot of the time Fred is being the butt of the joke with the point being him being a dumb white boy. Jokes like that usually fell very shallow and offensive, Its like they held on to the first negative point that you would associated with something and turned it into a simple joke. The result is sometimes offensive instead, Pointing out a positive stereotype for lesbian cops isn't funny, its pointing out a stereotype nothing more. In the same way it isn't funny to point out any negative stereotype about any group in any way, be they gay, lesbian, Caucasian, black , Asian or whatever. This kind of social commentary is just dull and densest work anymore, especially not in a thoughtful and observation show like this one claims it is.

Reason2: The exact opposite of Reason 1. Instead of making a small remark about something they take their message and go completely over the top in bringing it over. This just has the effect of it being more harmful to the message they want to bring over and invalidating it. There are 2 big examples for this. In the second episode Fred is on trial and him being a rich white boy , being pointed out by Velma like this multiple times, makes him seem guilty. To appeal to the public they try to make him seem childish and innocent but only end up turning him into a Hitler lookalike. That just felt like to much , way to much. Yes generation twitter like to compare people to Hitler and the show points that out as well , but was that truly necessary? You could have made that attempt go wrong in so many other ways, ways that dint involve turning a character into Hitler. By using such a drastic way it just invalidates any social critic they wanted to make here.

The other example I would like to talk about is in episode 7. In that episode Velma disguises herself as a Man to sneak in to a local festival . Even tho she wears a Disguise she behaves in the same disgusting and unappealing way. Yet all the girls find her attractive and all the men respect and value her. The Message was that man have it easier in life. It is pointed out multiple times during the Episode. Velma at one point even says that all her character traits that are repulsive as a girl are beloved at men. And that is where the episode completely lost me. The Point of men having it easier in life is a fair point. There are still enough women fighting for equal rights every day. But trying to show it in such an over exaggerated way felt dumb. It didn’t make me feel bad for woman not having equal rights . The message got completely lost by trying to argue that traits society finds repulsive on woman are attractive on men by choosing character traits and behavior that is repulsive regardless of gender and ethnicity. And just to be sure that its not just me I asked multiple female friends. I gave all of them the same description I will be giving you guys here as well.

A man that punches other men , including policemen, in the nuts as greeting. He east big amounts of food in a short time and makes loud noises while doing it. He has big sweat stains in his white shirt and on the dance floor he moves his arms slightly to the sides .

I asked a total 5 female friends if this description sounds like a man that's appealing in any way. They all said no. Yes our society has this double standard in some area still unfortunately, but why not use actual examples and traits affected by it. Instead they went completely going overboard with it and ruining the positive message they had.

Reason 3: There is so much social commentary that its losing its meaning. Often times the comment and joke about issues that kinda contradict each other. Its just too much for any of it to taken serous and to provoke any thoughts. In the first 2 episodes they made jokes about white people, adults that watch cartoons, drugs, drug dealers, the police, gender inequality, the me too movement, Hitler, Afro Americans, Asians, cheerleaders, nerds, rich people, poor people and more. All of that just feels bloated. Most of these jokes were often borderline racist or sexist jabs based on stereotypes. I would expect something from a show like Drawn together which tried to be as offensive as possible and was pure parody. But this is trying to be a thoughtful and observation comedy instead. This just doesn´t work. At some point its just too much and I think this show reached that point and went even further.

The social commentary is running through the entire show. I mentioned earlier how Fred´s mother wanted a female brain for her son and that a girl would understand how to use that power and privilege of being a white man. That just sounds like misguided Feminism. If the show tried to provoke any thoughts with that motivation then they missed it. This doesn’t make me think that white people are privileged. If anything it made my think that radical feminism is crazy. Again I don’t have anything against working for gender equality, im all for it. Its just the way this show presented it was more counterproductive than anything for it.

The whole social commentary and “woke” part of the show simply took up way to much of the show and felt misguided at best. Last time I praised Harley Quinn for handling this rather well by not overdoing it and weaving most into the show naturally. But here it felt like this was the main drive of the show at times and it simply didn’t work.

Respecting the source material

When I talked about Mystery Incorporated I mentioned how you could immediately tell its Scoop-Doo and that it tried to work with the original material but giving it a few fun twists here and there while adding new stuff. You could watch it if and tell its Scoop-Doo and payed homage to old fans and tried to capture new ones. Velma however is a different story. It seems like Velma tried to distance itself as much as possible from the original work of Hanna Barbera. It starts by not including Scoop-Doo. The original namesake of the show doenst exist as character in this version. Why you ask ? Well cause the creates thought a talking dog would turn this into a kids show and this wasn't meant to be for kids. After watching it I could not tell you for who this show is but that's not the point. What else happened. Well they changed Concourses but that is fine usually. The only part that rubs me the wrong way with that was a trailer they originally created where Velma complains to a TV network in a very rude manner about race changing a character in a Jetsons Reboot. That was too on the nose for me and once again played into the meta humor the show is full off. Other things they did which felt like a jab at old Scoop-Doo fans was to turn catchphrases of the older shows into the name of Drugs. Jinkies, Zoinks and Mystery Machine are just drugs and are only name dropped as such. That just felt distasteful to me. It sounded like they tried to differentiate themselves to hard from the kids cartoon it was based on with that. But to old Fans this was just a slap in the face.

The biggest changes are the personalities of the main cast. I talked about all of them in depth earlier but the point is that non of them are recognizable if they didn’t have the same name or outfit.

I would even go as far that the characters are so far apart from the originals that this show would work the same way if you remove Names. A popular theory is that this show started as a new IP but was forced to incorporate Scoop-Doo at a late stage of production so that it would get more attention. Looking at the show I think that is very Plausible. You could have easily turn this into a standalone Show with no ties to any other franchise. But doing that would have decreased the attention it got from public. If that is true is something we might never know but the point stands that this show feels like it has and wants nothing to do with Scoop-Doo and at times mocks fans of that franchise instead.

Overall Thoughts

This show is a mess. Its hard to describe it with anything that's positive. I watched the entire first season and I expect that we get a second as well since most cartoons are ordered for 2 seasons from the get go. If they want a third they will have to make some serious improvements. It´s just clustered with flaws and bad writing everywhere. The only saving grace I saw in the show was the animation. The animation was always great , especially the hallucination scenes from Velma looked awesome, but they were canned after half the season. The animation team of this show deserve allot of praise for the Work here, I truly think they were underappreciated here. A similar thing goes for the Voice cast who did a great job, besides Mindy Kailling. But apart from that there is nothing that's good basically. The show simply falls with its terrible writing , making it unwatchable for many people. You sometimes have something that's so bad its entertaining like The Room, but not even that is applicable here since most people will maybe watch 1 episode or 2, fell offended by some of the social commentary and think that Velma´s personality is garbage. And if they would think that after 2 episodes then they wont miss anything since it stay like that. Not even the mystery
is saving this since it lacks a satisfying conclusion. It just ends in a confusing and illogical mess that doenst make sense.

I can really not advise anyone to watch this show. If you are ever curious just watch clips on YouTube or watch 1 episode but that is the most I could recommend this.

My Rating: 2/10

Well that concludes this Review next time I think I will talk about something positive again, Gravity Falls. Till Then goodbye.
